Here are the basics. CIRA directly supports youth rowing programs through Cape Cod Youth Rowing, and adult rowing programs through Long Pond Masters.

Cape Cod Youth Rowing

Students ages 12-18 can enjoy Learn-to-Row, Recreational, and Competitive rowing levels. Both sculling (2 oars) and sweep (1 oar) disciplines are taught. Sessions run during the spring and fall parallel to the high school competitive schedule. Sign up for sessions on Regatta Central

CCYR offers a novice program geared to high school students, open to all students grades 7-12 that want to participate in a 5-day-per-week competitive program. This fall, the program ran September 6th – November 3rd, M-F 3:45-6:00. The group participated in head style races on weekends in October. Spring Novice details will be posted soon. Students new to rowing and up to two seasons' experience are eligible for this group. Cost : $525.00

Long Pond Masters

Adults beyond the age of 18 are welcome to continue their love of the sport or discover it. Long Pond Masters focus on sculling. Quads, doubles, and singles are options. Introduction to sweep rowing as time permits. Learn-to-Row and Recreational sessions are available. 2018 may include some limited master's competition participation. Register on Regatta Central

Middle School Rowing Programs

Offered through Cape Cod Youth rowing, recreational rowing is offered to middle school students. The 2017 fall Schedule for middle school students was  Mondays , Tuesdays and Wednesdays,  4:00-6:00p.m. and ran from September 7th to November 3rd. This recreational sculling based program is geared to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders but also open to students in grades 9-12 who may not be able to participate in the 5 day competitive program. Participants learn the skills needed for sculling in coxed quads as well as other small boats, while having fun and getting on the water. Basic conditioning, boat handling and safety skills are included as well. Some races may be added to the program. Cost : $295.00

The summer session offers both Cape Cod middle schoolers and visiting students ages 11-13 an introduction to the sport of rowing. The summer session is taught at Long Pond in Harwich. Sign up on Regatta Central. More details will become available this spring.
